I acknowledge and apologize for my late filing. The reason was due to being new to the position and not having historical knowledge on the 990 filing. I took the position of Director of Accounting at the NSEA in May of 2024. At that time there was one other employee in the business office who left 2 weeks into my new position. Since that time, I have been working on learning all the requirements of the job. After spending many months trying to organize paperwork, I thought I had all the tax documents and due dates. Then on February 5th, I came across a document in a different location that alerted me to the fact that I had missed the 990 deadline of January 15th. To prevent this from happening in the future, I have created a calendar event to remind me of the filing dates. Again, I sincerely apologize and hope that you will consider the abatement of any penalties owed for reasonable cause.
