WE LAUNCHED TWO NEW CONCERT SERIES: THE WIND DOWN, FEATURING LOCAL EMERGING ARTISTS, AND MUSIC IN THE ORANGES, A COLLABORATION WITH EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH, NIA BAPTIST CHURCH, AND THE FAITH+WORKS UU CONGREGATION OF ORANGE.THERE WERE THREE WIND DOWN CONCERTS WITH APPROXIMATELY 50 ATTENDEES AT EACH AND THREE MUSIC IN THE ORANGES CONCERTS WITH APPROXIMATELY 120 ATTENDEES AT EACH. IN MAY OF 2024 WE ORGANIZED THE 8TH ANNUAL MUSIC CITY FESTIVAL, HOSTED IN PUBLIC SPACES NEAR RESTAURANTS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. THE FESTIVAL FEATURED 65 MUSICIANS AT THREE RESTAURANT VENUES AND ONE STREET FAIR, AND DREW AN AUDIENCE OF 650 PEOPLE. WE LAUNCHED A NEW PROJECT - A COMMUNITY STEEL PAN BAND - BY FORMING A NEW TEAM, PURCHASING A SET OF SIX STEEL PAN INSTRUMENTS, AND PLANNING FOR A AUGUST 2024 LAUNCH. |

THERE WERE OVER 180 ATTENDEES OVER THE TWO DAYS. THE BRIDGE BUILDER PRESS AND MAGGIE INK PROJECT SUPPORTS WRITING CLASSES AND PUBLICATIONS. THROUGH OUR MAGGIE INK PROJECT WE HAVE OFFERED MULTIPLE 10-WEEK MEMOIR-WRITING CLASSES LED BY DEVELOPMENTAL EDITOR SUSAN HASHO. THIS CLASS IS OFFERED THREE TIMES PER YEAR. STUDENTS FROM ESSEX COUNTY ARE JOINED BY STUDENTS FROM CITIES ALL OVER THE US AND THE WORLD. THE CLASS IS OPEN TO STUDENTS OF ALL AGES. |
