It also does not compensate officers except the Quartermaser, who keeps the accounting records and pays the bills, plus deposits funds. The Commander receves expense allowance for incidental expenses and travel to various VFW events throughout Illinois and for veterans visits and costs of items given to hospitalized/ rehab center staying veterans. The Quartermaster is reimbursed up to a maximum amount limit, on a monthly basis for use of his auto for post banking, purchasing, attending VFW events, local and state wide. The Adjudant is reimbursed a small amount for secretary expenses and auto use attending VFW events. |

| Form 990, Part VIII, Line 1d | General support statement regarding raffle operations conducted by another organization using the facility of the VFW. The Organization allows another organization to operate a raffle called Queen of Hearts at their premises. This raffle has drawn wide spread news in the past seven years because of rather large pots building at times. The very large pots occurred in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The other organization is responsible for the tax reporting of this raffle. That organization is JOHN MARTIN STEELE VFW AUXILIARY TO POST 6049. The federal identification number is 38-4034629. The responsible party member name on Form SS-4 application, which was filed in April 2017, is Jim Maskel. The other organization John Martin Steele VFW Auxiliary contributed 16,837 to the VFW during fiscal year 2023-2024. |
| Form 990, Part VIII, Line 7a ii | Gross Amount from Sale of Assets In October 2023, the Organizaiton had a fire breakout in the kitchen, which caused smoke damage throughout the building. Water damage followed from the fire department. Various assets were damaged or destroyed. Insurance proceeds covered a good portion of the loss. The following make up the amount of LIne 7a ii and 7b ii Bar Inventory - insurance proceeds received 8,500 Inventory cost at time of loss 8,637. Pull Tab Tickets on hand damaged with insurance proceeds of zero Tickets cost 440. Various Equipment and Building components gross insurance proceeds 65,000 Net book value at time of fire 70,385. Total insurance proceeds line 7a 73,500 and total basis 79,462. |
