Early Literacy and Read On Arizona Form 990-PF, Part VIII-A Read On Arizona is the state's third grade reading initiative committed to building an early literacy system that improves language and literacy outcomes for Arizona's children, birth through age eight. Piper Trust is a founding member partner of this collective impact that works to accelerate progress towards school readiness and K-3 reading proficiency. The Trust supports the Arizona Literacy Director who works in partnership through a collective impact approach with founding partners (Arizona Community Foundation, Arizona Department of Education, First Things First, Head Start State Collaboration Office, Helios Education Foundation) and myriad agencies, philanthropies, and community partners; partners work in coordination sharing data and maximizing investments to improve early childhood literacy and drive large-scale change.
2. Vision Screening and Eyes On Learning Form 990-PF, Part VIII-A Eyes On Learning is a partner coalition that strengthens, expands, and advances engagement in children's vision health. The effort works to help ensure all children have early and effective vision screening and the appropriate follow-up services that are essential to good health and learning success. The Trust established and supports the Eyes On Learning Director who works in partnership with Read On Arizona and other state, local, and national organizations dedicated to vision health and learning success for all Arizona children.
3. Focused Capacity Building Form 990-PF, Part VIII-A Focused Capacity Building supports sustainability and organizational resilience by building the skills, knowledge, and infrastructure necessary to strengthen the programmatic capacity of Piper Trust grantees. The effort addresses a specific area(s) of organizational capacity through a targeted programmatic approach; areas include financial management, resource development, administrative systems, and management and leadership. The delineation of focus areas follows the general framework of Nonprofit Lifecycles.
4. Strengthening the Philanthropic Sector - ATLAS Form 990-PF, Part VIII-A ATLAS is a Piper Trust program designed as a stage-based approach to building capacity and developing organizational resilience for selected grantees. Built on the Nonprofit Lifecycles model, this two-year program pairs a participating organization with an experienced ATLAS coach who facilitates a 360-degree assessment of an organization's strengths and challenges and helps develop an action plan.
