Form 990, Part III, Line 4a, Discipline Educational Programming:	SOSA: The Student Osteopathic Surgical Association (SOSA) is the official students section of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS). SOSA was established to provide a means for students interested in the surgical specialties to participate in the activities and governance of the ACOS. The purpose of SOSA is to represent and educate future osteopathic surgeons through local chapters of SOSA at colleges of osteopathic medicine.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 3	ACOS (Affiliated/parent organization) provides staff support to the Disciplines.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6	Disciplines have 6 categories of membership (Active, Life, Resident, Associate, Honorary and Retired members). Only Active, Retired, and Life members have voting rights.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7a	Discipline officers and representatives to the ACOS Board of Governors are elected at Discipline's annual meeting by the members. A slate of candidates is named by the Discipline's Nominating Committee.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7b	By-Laws may be amended by a majority vote of the Discipline's voting members.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 8b	There are not any committees that act on behalf of the discipline executive committee which is the governing body.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b	ACOS Director of Finance & Administration reviews the 990 that is prepared by an independent CPA firm. A copy of the 990 is posted on ACOS' website for review by the Discipline Chair.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12	The Disciplines have no employees and, therefore, no separate policies covering conflicts of interest; however, the affiliate, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) does have a conflict of interest policy which is signed by the Chairs of the Disciplines. The Chief Executive Officer and the Director of Finance & Administration of ACOS monitor ongoing transactions for conflicts of interest and disclose them to the Chair in order to deal with potential or actual conflicts, whether discovered before or after the transaction has occurred.
