BRPHSC HAS BECOME A NON-PROFIT AND NEW HAS ITS OWN TAX ID NUMBER. THEY ARE NOW RUNNING DONATIONS AND GRANTS THROUGH THIS NEW NON-PROFIT. AS OF 12/31/204 THE BALANCE ON DEPOSIT IS NOW $11,038.69. NO NEW MONEY WAS DEPOSITED INTO FFE DURING 2024. LOCAL IMPACT FOR TOMORROW (LIFT) FFE THROUGH THE FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT CENTER SERVICES PROVIDES THE FINANCIAL WELL-BEING FOR RESIDENCE IN THE FALLON PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COMMUNITY. LIFT IS A HEALTH AND WELLNESS INITIATIVE SPONSORED BY A COALITION OF COMMUNITY PARTNERS, INCLUDING CARILION CLINIC, DELTA DENTAL OF VIRGINIA, FREEDOM FIRST CREDIT UNION AND ROANOKE CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. LIFT BELIEVES THAT THE KEY TO STRENGTHENING A COMMUNITY STARTS WITH THE FAMILY, AND THE EASIEST WAY TO REACH FAMILIES IS THROUGH THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL. THE LIFT CENTER SERVES SOUTHEAST ROANOKE BY PROVIDING VITAL SUPPORT AND SERVICES TO THE STUDENTS AND FAMILIES OF FALLON PARK ELEMENTARY. THE CENTER FEATURES A PEDIATRIC CLINIC, ORAL HEALTH AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, FINANCIAL COACHING, HEALTH AND WELLNESS EDUCATION, AND ACCESS TO OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES IN ONE CONVENIENT LOCATION. FFE ACTS AS THE FIDUCIARY AGENT FOR THIS RELATIONSHIP AS WELL. FFE HAS TAKEN IN 63 UNIQUE DONORS FROM 68 DONATIONS SINCE ITS INCEPTION. OF THOSE 63 UNIQUE DONORS 55 ARE FROM INDIVIDUALS. BUSINESS, FOUNDATIONS, AND OTHER NON-PROFITS MAKE UP THE REMAINING 8 DONORS. CREDIT UNIONS DIFFER FROM BANKS AND OTHER FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS IN THAT THOSE WHO HAVE ACCOUNTS AT THE CREDIT UNION ARE ITS MEMBERS AND OWNERS, AND THEY ELECT A VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN A ONE-PERSON-ONE-VOTE SYSTEM REGARDLESS OF THEIR AMOUNT INVESTED.
