Form 990, Part I, Line 1, Brief Summary of Organization Mission:	Cinema United is the largest exhibition trade organization in the world, representing over 34,000 movie screens in all 50 states, and additional cinemas in over 100 countries worldwide. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., with a second office in Los Angeles, California, Cinema United represents its members in the heart of the nation's capital as well as the center of the entertainment industry. From these vantage points, Cinema United helps exhibition influence federal policy-making and work with movie distributors on all areas of mutual concern, from new technologies to legislation, marketing, and First Amendment issues.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 4	The Association's bylaws were amended during the fiscal year. The two significant changes made were as follows: Amend voter eligibility for Executive Board elections. Old bylaws restricted voter eligibility to Advisory Board members. Bylaws were amended so that all dues paying members are eligible to vote for their representative Board seats To enhance international members' contributions to Cinema United governance at the Executive Board level, a new non-voting board seat has been created for the Chair of the Global Cinema Federation, or their designee if the eligible GCF is already a member of the Executive Board.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6	The Association has dues paying members. A Regular Member is any sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, or other business entity which is directly engaged in the operation of one or more motion picture exhibition facilities. A Regular Member can be a private and public sector (non-military) non-profit business entity in the United States of America and its Territories. A Regional Association Member is a United States single-state (including the District of Columbia) or multi-state trade association established for the purpose of furthering the interests of those engaged in the operation of motion picture exhibition facilities. Regional Association Members must meet minimum criteria established by the Membership Committee and approved by the Executive Board, which will periodically certify them. Honorary Members are persons who have provided outstanding service to Cinema United and who are no longer engaged in movie theatre operations are eligible to be elected as Honorary Members of Cinema United. The Membership Committee will submit names of prospective Honorary Members to the Executive Board for election.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7a	Cinema United's governing body, the Executive Board, is comprised of a combination of automatic and elected seats. Eight automatic seats are filled by a representative of each of the top eight circuits, by screen count on a record date, in the United States and Canada. One additional automatic seat will be filled by a representative of each circuit with more than 3,000 screens as determined by screen count on a record date, in the United States and Canada. Nine seats are filled by election. Four seats are elected from the members of the Advisory Board who own or are employed at regional circuits, defined as Cinema United member companies with 75 or more screens, but not eligible for an automatic seat, and four seats are elected from the members of the Advisory Board who own or are employed at independent theatres, defined as Cinema United member companies with fewer than 75 screens. Each Cinema United member company in good standing in the regional or independent theatre category is eligible to cast one vote in the election of their category's representatives to the Executive Board. The ninth elected seat on the Executive Board is held by a representative of Cinema United's Certified Regional Association Members. Only voting delegates from each of Cinema United's Certified Regional Associations are eligible to run and vote in this election.
