No provision for federal income taxes is recorded in the accompanying consolidated financial statements. In accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles, the Foundation recognizes the income tax benefits, if any, of uncertain tax positions only when the position is "more likely than not" to be sustained assuming examination by federal taxing authorities. Management has analyzed the Foundation's tax positions taken on federal income tax returns subject to possible examination by federal taxing authorities (years ended December 31, 2020 through 2023) and concluded the Foundation did not require a provision for any uncertain tax positions as of December 31, 2024 and 2023.

	Every organization experiences a moment that marks a significant turning point or launch point. For the Kansas Health Foundation (KHF), 2023 was such a year. If 2023 was a year of planning, 2024 has been the year those plans came to life-marking the next stage in KHF's journey to improve the health of all Kansans. In 2023, the KHF Board of Directors approved a new strategic framework to guide all our work and center our efforts on the investments and activities that can have the greatest impact on health in our state. This framework established a new three-part purpose statement: Empower Kansas to lead the nation in health Eliminate the inequities that lead to the greatest health disparities Become the model for philanthropic impact While 2023 was a year of vision and planning, 2024 became a year of action and implementation. Building on the extensive groundwork laid the year before, KHF made measurable progress in putting the strategic framework into practice. We strengthened partnerships with Kansas communities experiencing the greatest health disparities and began co-developing initiatives shaped by local priorities. We also identified and mobilized our network around several major health challenges where collective action can drive meaningful, statewide change. KHF advanced its policy and advocacy framework, supporting efforts across multiple levels to influence the systems that shape health outcomes. Beyond traditional grantmaking, we began deploying new forms of capital-through impact investments-to expand our economic reach and catalyze broader change. Significant steps were also taken to reimagine our physical campus, transforming it into both a convening space and a visible expression of Kansas' collective commitment to health. Finally, KHF implemented a refreshed approach to partnership-one grounded in mutual accountability, learning, and shared vision. Building Power The Building Power strategy advances three objectives: Strengthen KHF's commitment to racial equity. Support powerful organizations working to advance racial equity. Build long-term, trust-based partnerships. Through the Building Power and Equity Partnership (BPEP), KHF has committed to providing each of 30 grassroots partners $1 million in support over a ten-year period. Expenditure Highlights $2,950,000 in core support grants to 30 grassroots partners. $1,283,039 in grants through the Impact and Opportunity & Innovation funds to support new and existing initiatives statewide. $702,077 for program-related activities and internal operations. Strengthening BPEP Partners Organizational growth through stronger HR systems, expanded staff, and improved management capacity. Increased visibility and engagement with government officials, leading to new funding opportunities. Technical assistance support to enhance board governance, fundraising, and financial management. Participation in networking opportunities including quarterly cohort sessions, peer discussions, and coaching for organizational development.

	Network Mobilization Network Mobilization is a core strategy designed to connect and activate organizations, leaders, and communities around shared goals that advance health equity across Kansas. Rather than supporting isolated efforts, KHF invests in networks that build collective capacity, coordinate strategies, and amplify impact. This work currently centers on three issue areas that address key social determinants of health: 2024: Food Insecurity 2025: Upward Mobility Expenditure Highlights $3,976,497 in grants to support Kansas' economic and social determinant initiatives and cross-state collaborations. $757,485 for program-related activities and internal operations. Launch of Hunger Free Kansas, a statewide coordinating entity to address food insecurity. Funding for the Food Secure Communities initiative in eight Kansas counties. Co-creation of the Blueprint to End Hunger with over 100 stakeholders statewide. $2 million investment in innovation and local action, supporting 100 small-scale community projects and four regional collaborations. Supported creation of a statewide landscape analysis, data walk, and crowdsourced report on hunger and food insecurity.
