THERE WERE ALMOST 1,200 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES SERVED DURING 2024 THROUGH THE FOOD PANTRY AND HUNGER RELIEF EVENTS.THE WILSON CENTER, INC.'S FOOD PANTRY PROVIDED ONGOING NOURISHMENT TO RESIDENTS WITHIN HAMILTON TOWNSHIP AND ADDITIONAL MERCER COUNTY COMMUNITIES. THIS YEAR THERE WERE 755 THANKSGIVING BASKET GIVEAWAYS.THERE WERE FRESH PRODUCE BOX GIVEAWAYS PROVIDED TO 283 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES THE WILSON CENTER WORKS TO MEET CRTICAL NEEDS OF COMMUNITY FAMILIES THROUGH SUPPORT PROGRAMS AND GIVEAWAYS. THESE INITIATIVES INCLUDE AN ANNUAL SCHOOL BACKPACK GIVEAWAY, A NEW BABYSITTING TRAINING PROGRAM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PENN MEDICINE PRINCETON HEALTH, AND A ROBUST CHILDREN'S WINTER COAT GIVEAWAY. HOMELESS PREVENTION TO PREVENT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES FROM EVICTION AND THE LOSS OF ESSENTIAL SERVICES SUCH AS HEAT, POWER, OR WATER, OUR RENT AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM OFFERS VITAL SUPPORT TO QUALIFIED RESIDENTS IN HAMILTON TOWNSHIP AND SURROUNDING MERCER COUNTY COMMUNITIES. THIS ESSENTIAL EMERGENCY RELIEF SERVICE PROVIDES A ONE-TIME SUPPLEMENTAL PAYMENT FOR RENT, ELECTRICITY, WATER, OR HEAT, HELPING TO ALLEVIATE THE DEVASTATING IMPACT OF HOMELESSNESS AND THE ABRUPT LOSS OF UTILITY SERVICES. DURING 2024 THE ORGANIZATION SERVED APPROXIMATELY 140 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH EMERGENCY RENT AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE. THIS IS A 251% INCREASE OVER 2024. THIS ASSISTANCE ENABLED PARTICIPANTS TO AVOID EVICTION AND AVOID UTILITY INTERRUPTION OR "SHUT-OFF". THE SENIOR SERVICES AND ACTIVITY PROGRAMS SERVED OVER 1,100 SENIORS WITH LUNCH AND LEARN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, CREATIVE CRAFTS, BUS TRIPS AND A HOST OF OTHER ENGAGING ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLNESS. THIS REPRESENTS AN INCREASE OF 139% OVER 2023. THE WILSON CENTER S.A.G.E PROGRAM(SENIOR ACTIVITIES, GUIDANCE, AND EDUCATION). THE S.A.G.E. PROGRAM AIMS TO FOSTER INCREASED CONNECTIONS, SOCIALIZATION,RECREATING, AND EDUCATION AMONG OUR SENIOR POPULATION. THE CENTER CONTINUES TO PARTNER WITH THE HAMILTON TOWNSHIP HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO OFFER COMMUNITY RESIDENTS ONGOING MONTHLY HEALTH SCREENINGS FOR BLOOD PRESSURE, CHOLESTEROL AND DIABETES TESTING.A SERIES OF FREE, IN- PERSON CLASSES AND VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS HAS BEEN LAUNCHED TO ENHANCE THE COMMUNITY'S UNDERSTANDING OF PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, FINANCIAL, AND SPIRITUAL HEALTH. TOPICS INCLUDE STRESS MANAGEMENT, THE BENEFITS OF YOGA AND TAI CHI, HEART DISEASE AND DIABETES EDUCATION, CPR TRAINING, SELF- DEFENSE, AND HOUSEHOLD BUDGETING. THE CENTER COLLABORATES WITH THE HAMILTON BOARD OF EDUCATION'S 21ST CENTURY PROGRAM TO PROVIDE TUTORING FOR STUDENTS KINDERGARTEN THROUGH THIRD GRADE. THESE TUTORING PROGRAMS ARE HELD TUESDAY AND THURSDAY AFTERNOONS. TO ENHANCE COMMUNITY ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL TECHNOLOGY, A FREE COMPUTER LAB FEATURES EIGHT UPGRADED DESKTOP COMPUTERS WITH INTERNET ACCESS, MICROSOFT OFFICE, AND LARGE MONITORS. OPEN DAILY FROM 10 AM TO 3 PM, THE LAB PROVIDES FREE COPYING AND FAXING SERVICES.
