Briefly describe the organization’s mission: The Society for Vascular Ultrasound ("the Society"), is a professional society dedicated to the enhancement of public welfare by fostering optimal patient care and vascular disease prevention through professional training and education, promotion of scientific research, leadership in development of professional guidelines, facilitation of cooperation between health professions, consultation and coordination of activities involving noninvasive vascular technology, and the formulation of health care policies.

	Journal and Newsletters: SVU publishes a quarterly scientific, peer-reviewed Journal for Vascular Ultrasound (JVU), and monthly online newsletter called E-Spectrum. -JVU contains original articles on basic and clinical aspects of vascular diagnostics, advances in the field, techniques, book reviews, case studies, and viewpoints.-The E-Spectrum newsletter reports on SVU's federal legislative/regulatory advocacy efforts, job listings, training courses, new product information, educational opportunities, programs of interest, products, and other SVU activities and news of interest to the vascular profession.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6	SVU works hard to give its members the professional resources needed to succeed in today's quickly changing world. The Society strives to promote knowledge among ultrasound professionals on current hot topics as well as regulatory and legislative advocacy issues. SVU membership categories: (1) Regular members - Those are who are clinicians, scientists, educators, and industry professionals working in or utilizing vascular technology. They shall be required to pay annual membership dues and may vote. Only those members who have received and maintained a professional credential in vascular technology may hold an elected office within SVU. (2) Honorary members - Persons who have given outstanding support and service to SVU. Honorary membership shall be by nomination by any member of SVU and requires approval of two-thirds majority of the Board of Directors. Honorary members shall not be required to pay annual membership dues and cannot hold elected office, but may vote. (3) Retired/disabled members - Those that are either retired from the profession or disabled. They must submit to SVU a signed legal affidavit, prepared by the SVU attorney, certifying they are retired from the profession or physically unable to practice in the profession. They pay reduced annual dues, are eligible to vote, and are eligible to serve on committees. (4) Founding members - Those persons who were the original nine founding members of the Society of Non-Invasive Vascular Technology shall become honorary members. (5) Distinguished fellow members - Members who have made outstanding contributions to vascular ultrasound, inspired leadership in SVU, and are selected by the Board to be an SVU member. They are required to pay annual dues. (6) Signature lab membership - This membership category recognizes 100% annual membership participation in SVU by a laboratory technologist who performs vascular studies with at least one physician in the lab.
