THRIVING KIDS: More than 800 children were screened through our developmental screening hub that equips families with resources, provides referrals, and distributes books and activities. Over two hundred beds were built by volunteers and given to students who did not have a bed to call their own. Thousands of young people were impacted through our youth success network. Several thousand diapers were collected, impact kits were created and distributed to Metro United Way partners. Over 40,000 books were distributed throughout our more than 40 Little Free Library network.

STRONG HOUSEHOLDS: Approximately 250 individuals participated in workforce coaching. Approximately 22,000 individuals were connected to resources in our community through our 211 helpline. Several households in Southern Indiana were helped through the home ownership process. Over 500 households were helped with housing or rental assistance. MUW continued to assist families, helping them to avoid utility interruption. Approximately 65,000 people were supplied with food.

EQUITABLE COMMUNITY: Over 160 scholarships provided to young men. Several nonprofit organizations participated in MUW's Black Love Philanthropic Partnership. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The IRS Form 990 is reviewed by Harding, Shymanski & Company P.S.C., the independent accounting firm that conducted Metro United Way's most recent audit. It is also reviewed by the Metro United Way Finance Committee on behalf of the Board of Directors. A copy of the 990 is provided to every member of the Board of Directors prior to filing with the IRS.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c All members of the Metro United Way Board of Directors, and all employees of Metro United Way are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest on an annual basis. In addition, all employees must disclose any outside boards or committees on which they serve. These disclosures are reviewed by both the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chief of Staff. Metro United Way employees are prohibited from serving on boards or committees of any not-for-profit organization either funded or actively involved with Metro United Way without the prior permission of the CEO. The CEO must receive permission from the Metro United Way Board of Directors to serve on such boards or committees.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 Compensation for Metro United Way's Chief Executive Officer is approved by independent persons on the Board of Directors, including the Board Chair, the Board Treasurer and the Chair of the Metro United Way Human Resources Committee. Prior to approving compensation, a review of compensation data from comparable sources is performed. Deliberation and discussions are contemporaneously documented. The most recent review process occurred during the May-June 2024 time period. Compensation for the Chief Financial Officer is determined by the CEO, based on compensation data from comparable sources, annual performance evaluations for this key position, and consultation, if necessary.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Metro United Way makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements available to the public upon request.
