What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Social and recreational organization for single adults who wish to sail. Programs include sailing on the Chesapeake Bay as well as occasional extended trips in other areas. Education and social activities include seminars on sailing skills, winter brunches, and parties that are generally held at weekend sailing destinations. SOS is a volunteer based organization of approximately 400 members.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Bareboat Cruises - This major program organizes trips outside the local sailing area for a week or more on chartered sailing vessels. Some trips remain in US waters, others originate in foreign destinations. Heavy volunteer involvement in planning these trips limits costs.
