Summary of Direct Charitable Activities

1 Community outreach with emergency equipment and training support for Amateur Radio Emergency Services ARES a volunteer organization that offers radio communications during emergencies. The club has equipment stored on standby when government agencies or community leaders need support. 1,545
2 Amateur Radio Relay League ARRL a nationwide Field Day emergency readiness drill was held on June 28-29 2025 to stress test emergency equipment and train to operate completely without electricity from the utility grid and contact other participating clubs across the country. This exercise helps club readiness when emergency communications are required. 746
3 The club sponsored and hosted training for the general public to obtain an amateur license from the FCC. This training was offered in the spring and fall and attended by 6-10 people focusing on HF radio communication in a 1-1 mentoring environment. At club hosted licenses 24 candidates were tested for new licenses or upgrades to current licenses. 479
4 The club runs a radio station aboard the museum ship USS Kidd to increase national visibility of the public museum and demonstrate radio skills to youth groups and museum patrons. The ship was in drydock so that station was moved to the BREC Observatory where the public could have access. Radio demonstration and presentation to school age students age 12-16: 20 students across 2 sessions. That station name is W5GXI. We expect the ship to return in 2026 and recommissioning of W5KID. 101
