	MICA is dedicated to promoting and facilitating the trade of wholesome imported meat and meat products to the United States. Serving as a clearinghouse for information, industry contacts, and organized activities, MICA plays a pivotal role in supporting the evolving needs of global marketing channels that deliver imported meat from offshore farms and ranches to consumers in the United States. Since its founding in 1962, MICA has continuously adapted to meet the changing demands of its members, solidifying its reputation as a trusted and enduring advocate for the imported meat industry.

	The Beef Promotion and Research Act of 1985 established the Beef Promotion Operating Committee (BPOC) to oversee programs aimed at strengthening the beef industry. The BPOC is authorized to contract with established national nonprofit industry organizations, such as MICA to implement these programs and initiatives. MICA has an agreement with the BPOC to implement promotion and consumer information programs for beef and beef products. To assist MICA in carrying out its contractual obligations with the BPOC, MICA has contracted with the Pennsylvania Beef Council (PBC).
