What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Primary exempt purpose of our organization is to bring people together, support our members, and give back to the community. While we focus on providing benefits to our members, we also believe in making a positive impact beyond our group. One of the ways we do this is by hosting social events that help strengthen friendships and bring in funds for charitable causes. These events aren't just about having a good time-they allow us to support things like scholarships, disaster relief, and other community programs that align with our mission. All money raised from these events goes directly to charity, ensuring we're doing our part to help those in need. Our organization follows the rules for 501(c)(8) fraternal organizations, meaning our focus is on supporting our members while also serving the greater good.

On behalf of the Twin Boro Columbian Club, I am writing to respectfully request the waiver and abatement of any late-filing penalties associated with our Form 990-EZ for the 2025 tax year. Our return was successfully transmitted one day after the official due date due to sudden and unavoidable electronic filing system errors, which we believe constitutes reasonable cause. As President of the council, I want to assure you that we take our compliance obligations seriously and exercised ordinary business care to ensure this return was completed on time. The financial records were fully reconciled, and the return was finalized and ready for submission well ahead of the deadline. Unfortunately, when I attempted to log in to the electronic filing portal to transmit the return, I encountered a series of persistent technical system errors and access timeouts that locked me out of the platform. I made multiple attempts throughout the evening to resolve the connection and gain access, but the system remained unresponsive to my login credentials. The platform finally cleared the technical barrier the following morning. Immediately upon regaining access to the electronic return, I submitted the filing without further delay. The single-day delay was entirely a result of these external technical complications and was not due to willful neglect or a lack of preparation on our part. Given our consistent history of timely filings and the fact that the return was completed on schedule, we kindly request that you waive any penalties for this one-day oversight.
