| Part III response or note to any other line in Part III | The Owensboro International Bar-B-Q Festival has two missions: to celebrate Good ole Daviess County, Kentucky, Bar-B-Q, and to provide a forum for local not-for-profits to raise money. In addition to providing space for booths and activities for the not-for-profits, our board donates varying amounts based on available funds at the end of each annual Bar-B-Q Festival to not-for-profit groups nominated by that years board members and to those groups who provided assistance during the Bar-B-Q Festival with activities or services. Our annual International Bar-B-Q Festival fundraising event was canceled entirely in 2020 and was still relatively small and sparsely attended due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. In 2023, we changed its focus to BBQ & Barrels, combining many of its existing barbeque-related elements with new ones from Kentuckys bourbon industry. For the first time since the COVID pandemic in 2020, the event had a net income in 2023. As such, we were able to fulfill the organizations mission. In accordance with our mission, board members nominated worthy not-for-profits to support. These not-for-profits included churches. We are proud to have provided $1,500 to support these organizations and the people and causes they serve in 2023. |
