Return Reference Explanation
Part X, Line 2: AWRF is exempt from federal and state income taxes under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(6). AWRF engages in lobbying activities and elects not to allocate the lobbying expenses to dues paid by the members. AWRF chooses to pay a proxy tax equal to 21% of the lobbying expenses made during the year. AWRF also pays a proxy tax equal to 21% on collections of advertising income for newsletters. AWRF adopted the provisions of FASB ASC 740-10-25 on January 1, 2009. Under ASC 740-10-25, an organization must recognize the tax benefit associated with tax taken for tax return purposes when it is more likely than not the position will be sustained. AWRF does not believe there are any material uncertain tax positions and, accordingly, it will not recognize any liability for unrecognized tax benefits. For the year ended December 31, 2025, there were no interest or penalties recorded or included in its financial statements.

Part I, Line 2: The Board of Directors has approved 13 scholarships to be awarded each year in the amount of $3,500 each. These scholarships are available to the children of the employees of the member companies. The scholarship committee selects the recipients based on the applications submitted. The executive director receives all applications first and hides the applicants' names to eliminate any bias by the scholarship committee.
