| Form 990-EZ, Part I, Line 7b | In 2025 the organization established a relationship with an online merchandise store operated by Fourthwall Inc. Members of the chapter created and submitted designs (such as logos and slogans related to our labor organizing mission) that are printed on items such as clothing, coffee mugs, and stickers for sale to the general public. The chapter does not operate the store nor manage the production of the inventory. It only provides designs that can be displayed on the dedicated webpage for the store that sells the merchandise that bears the chapter's designs. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of items sold on the webpage are remitted to the chapter on a periodic basis. The funds that the chapter received from the store during the reporting period were reported on line 10a. Because the chapter does not manage the actual production or delivery of the merchandise and does not maintain or operate the webpage on which the merchandise is sold, it cannot estimate any cost of goods sold, so $0 was reported in line 7b. |
| Form 990-EZ, Part I, Line 16 | None of the expense categories listed in lines 10-15 matched categories of chapter expenses during the reporting period. Those expenses consisted entirely of reimbursements directly to officers and members who spend money to support and engage in representational and organizing activities on the chapter's behalf, or payments by the chapter to third party vendors for the same (such as purchase of transportation on public carriers to attend conferences or similar events). |
| Form 990-EZ, Part V, Line 35a | For line 35a the chapter answered "no" because the sale of chapter-designed merchandise serves two purposes related to the chapter's primary business. First, the merchandise supports the chapter's efforts to organize its members and advocate on their behalf, by, for example, increasing public awareness and visibility of the chapter and its members' concerns and interests as members of the labor organization. Second, all of the funds received from the sale of chapter-designed merchandise is deposited in the chapter's general account and is earmarked for the specific purpose of providing hardship grants to dues paying members who are fired or laid off. This fund (and the idea of selling merchandise) was created during the reporting-period after two attempts by the employer to lay off large numbers of chapter members. Ultimately, both of these efforts were turned back as a result of legal action filed by the chapter's parent national union. To date, no members have made use of the earmarked funds, though they remain designated for this purpose. |
