Form 990, Part I, Line 1	Rotary clubs are combined into geographic areas by Rotary International for administrative purposes. District 6440 includes 66 clubs in the area of Lake, McHenry, Northern Cook and Northern DuPage counties. The activities and organization of the District are to help individual rotary clubs advance the object of rotary. Rotary is committed to service above self, channeled through the avenues of service which form the foundation of the club. Club service - focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club. Vocational service - encourages rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards. Community service - covers the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life in its community. International service - encompasses actions taken to expand rotarys humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace. New generations service - recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities such as RYLA, Rotaract and Interact, service projects and creating international understanding with rotary youth exchange.
Form 990, Part III, Line 1	The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the idea of service as a basis of worthy enterprise, and in particular, to encourage and foster First - the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service Second - high ethical standards in business and professions the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations and then dignifying of each rotarians occupation as an opportunity to service society Third - the application of the idea of service in each rotarians personal, business and community life Fourth - the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the idea of service.
Form 990, Part III, Line 4a	Exposure to different cultures ranks as one of the most powerful ways to promote international understanding and peace. The rotary youth exchange program provides thousands of young students with the opportunity to meet people from other countries and experience new cultures, planting the seeds for a lifetime of understanding. The program offers numerous benefits to its young participants and their rotarian hosts and mentors, as well as to the community at large. Through youth exchange, students learn firsthand about all aspects of life in another country. As their concept of the world expands, they mature and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. Immersion in another countrys educational system enhances their academic and personal growth, host clubs and families and the entire community are enriched by extended, friendly contact with someone form a different culture.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 6	The District is composed of multiple local rotary clubs. All district activities are conducted by rotarians who are members of a club within the District.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 7a	The President of each club is a voting member of the District. The District has 62 rotary clubs, thus 63 members.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 7b	Club Presidents vote on the annual budget and any other issues required by Rotary International.
Form 990, Part VI, Line 11b	The form 990 is reviewed by the Finance Committee and District Governor before filing. The independent CPA hired to audit financial statements and prepare the information returns is available to address questions or concerns prior to filing.
